- Beginning April 1, 2014 the City of Meadowlakes will begin Mandatory Water Restrictions in response to the extreme drought conditions, which are predicted to continue for the foreseeable future. Due to the water shortage the City is now implementing mandatory water restrictions in accordance with the City's Drought Contingency Plan Stage 2. The Lower Colorado River Authority has requested that all municipalities, utility districts and other water suppliers that draw water from the Colorado River implement mandatory water-use restrictions in order to accomplish a 20% reduction in overall water consumption. For Stage 2 of the City's Drought Contingency Plan the following prohibitions are in effect: a. Outdoor watering hours will be limited to between midnight and 10 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and midnight on designated days shown below. This prohibition does not apply to irrigation of landscaped areas by means of a hand-held hose or a faucet-filled bucket or watering can of five gallons or less. Irrigate outdoors using an in-ground irrigation system or hose-end sprinkler no more than TWICE per week and only during scheduled days and times as indicated below:

- April 12-13th, Art City Austin Festival, Austin. Weekend long arts festival that transforms the streets of downtown Austin. Gallery of art, local food trailers, live music, and interactive projects, all along Cesar Chavez and 2nd Street District. Weekend and VIP passes available.
- April 18-20th, Austin Reggae Festival, Austin. This event features three days of reggae music and is a fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank. Held at Butler Park. 3-Day Pass and advance tickets are available for purchase online.
- April 25-27th, Austin FOOD & WINE Festival, Austin. Presented by FOOD & WINE Magazine, chefs and winemakers from across the nation and Austin’s own gourmet scene join together for tastings, demonstrations, and live music. Savor and Taste Passes available online.
- April 26th, Earth Day Austin Festival 2014, Austin. Featuring over 75 exhibitors, a dozen food options, speakers, live music, and more. Held from noon to 6 at Mueller Central.
- April 26th, County Fair and Wiener Dog Races, Buda. Arts and crafts, food vendors, BBQ cook off, bake off contest, and wiener dog races. Takes place at the Buda City Park on Saturday and Sunday. $3 admission; kids under 12 are FREE.
- May 3-4th, The Old Pecan Street Festival, Austin. Free, bi-annual event held on Sixth Street, featuring over 275 artisan vendors who sell and display homemade art and craft work.

- Game studios make a play for Hill Country. In the past three months western Travis County has gained two new gaming studios.
- Rollingwood construction starts nearly 15 years after purchase. Endeavor Real Estate Group make plans to start development project in the first quarter of 2015 on 18 acre tract of land off Bee Caves Road.
- Lake Travis ISD budget planning continues. Budget shortfall is expected for the 2014-2015 school year; cuts suggested.
- LCRA announces a rate increase. Local firm rates are proposed to increase by 15%.
